Lately my fingers have been getting all tingly for the guitar and everytime I hear a beautiful song it makes me want to fall to my knees and weep. I want to reach into the fabric of space time and touch the strands that make up this universe and let them ring out in a soulful harmony that only being can create.

I am the same as dog, I am the same as tree, yet I am not. ?

Right now I am part chicken egg part cow milk part wheat seed. Which were in turn corn and grass and cow shit and water. Which in part were more cow shit and minerals from rocks which came from space. Don't you see it? I am the universe. Yet I am seperate. What is this confounded thing which animates my reason?

You and I, we're made of the same stuff. Maybe part of me was once Einstein's brain. Or Marilyn Monroe's breasts. Probably not, since they were buried in wooden boxes, but you get the point.

I believe in God and He will do what is Good. And that is what I believe.

Love. Love? What creates it? I believe it is the very essence of the Creator...true love is the absolute overriding desire for Good in someone else's life. It is selflessness. Perhaps TRUE love is not something humans can have, because we are always at least a little bit selfish. But we can try.

One day I will grow old and all of this adolescent nonsense will have long faded from my mind...in some ways I look forward to that. In other ways I do not.

I think I only have half a soul. That's how strongly I believe that loving someone is my true purpose in life...only through this may I become complete and know peace.

This sort of strayed from the original topic...which was sort of the guitar. I have a new guitar now. Her name is Leena. I'm practicing so one day I'll be good at it. Maybe.

Well, goodnight folks.

im feeling some salmon ressurection...this weekend should be music-making time. if no one minds, i'd like to come and watch your music-making (sean, jacob, peter), so get ahold of me tomorrow. i need to get better at the guitar...i honestly suck. but i can sing well if you guys need a singer. hmmm, hmmm! but yes, fun is the foundation. i just love the brotherliness.

okay, before this post takes a turn for the worst, i shall resign myself.

salmon 4 ever!

oh yes, i have sort of been pondering something. i think that salmon is more of a state of mind(s) than a band. it must include two of these three people (and yes, just these three, cause we STARTED THE MOVEMENT and we are awesome): sean nieves, jacob mccann, and michael o'hara (ME) and it must involve creative endeavor, primarily musical endeavor. if anyone has any input, COMMENT and make your statement! we must revive the life that is SALMON! ! it is the heartbeat of our souls.

Birthday (-1)
i think we need to somewhat bring more melody into our sonic spectrum. i think weve got the noise and pigfuck down. actually i think we need a space where we can turn upto 10 and not be bothered & experiment with feedback and the effects of such volume. but we need more riffage and actual notes besides the gorgeous pigfuck of clips, screwdrivers and other such abuses of the guitar. what do you guys think? and btw, maybe salmon should be a forum for musical ideas. The concept of SALMON! was not so much a band as just jillygogging around. and thats what were doing, jillygoggin! we need action to back up that jillygogging or otherwise its just pretty noise.

Snootch the Nootch, boys!
Hey all, i thought i'd post here for the first time in my LJ lifespan. Im just kinda curious when salmon is gonna get together for a jam. I belive we've done it as a full "band" only once. So i guess the basic line-up is Jacob on vocals on guitar and vocals, Sean (that's be me) on bass and slight vocals, Michael on keyboard (and vocals i would suppose) and Tracyman on drums. Let's not keep in static roles though. I mean like lets switch up on some instruments and vocalities. I do enjoy guitar so much, although im better on bass. I just found a philosophy that goes like this; Screw keys and play what sounds good and interesting. It keeps things fresh and breaks out of a mold that songs that are in the same key would be in normally. Try different time signatures other than 4:4. I hear 11:16 is a fun one. But lets work up to that.
In other news, in lieu of the sort of break-up of the Bread Machine, it looks as though im a member of 4 bands (Salmon, The Curry/Jon/Sean Project, The Stoneheadz (gah horrible name) and Blue Shaped Sphere.) Im not sure if im in Blue or not since Tracy wont tell me anything about the band or send me any form of sound file due to the fact that he hates everything he creates(mostly). I'll just wait i suppose. The one with Curry and Jonathan is gonna be a more experimental alternative thing. Me and Jonathan are drawn into bands with one another in them because of our love of 90's alternative, 60's/70's classic rock and of course, The Pixies. (ALL HAIL FRANK BLACK!)
The Bread Machine was a jam band. I love "jam music", but i suppose Ben just didnt have the vision i wanted. He wanted to fit into the little stereotype of how those bands are supposed to be, while me and Jonathan wanted to break new ground. I suppose i can credit Ben with getting me to play guitar and bass (its funny, really check this out; Ben said, a bit regretfully, that if it wasnt for Limp Bizkit(:P) and korn (:<), he'd never ever picked up a guitar.)
So the Stoneheadz line-up is this; Mike Reynolds, bass. Matt Reynolds, 1st guitar, vocals. Ben Hartley (the one and only), 2nd guitar. Pickle, drums (although he may quit), and me on bass, guitar, bongos and tamborine and anything else left in one place for too long as well as vocals.
Oh yeah. im 15 goddammit. took a whole shite'ing year. Bout damn time. hell. no thanks to you. Ass.

Behold America...The First Ever Salmon Tabs
This song sounds good either with meandering acoustic or sober electric. This was the first song I ever set to music. I have about seven songs with lyrics and music at this point in time. Worship now:

You Can Never Go Back Home

Intro: Same as Chorus (no words)

D A C G
Popular culture killed my dog
Stop the world, I want to get off
Darkness won't engulf my head
How I hate the night

*Chorus:
D A C
You can never go back home
G D
(Never go back home)
D A C G D
You can never go back home
(repeat)

D A
I'm reaching for my day-old coffee
C G
But I cannot find it
D A
It must be buried underneath
C G
Europa's icy crust
D A
Whoah, hey, there it is
C G
Underneath my brake pedal
D A
Oh, well, whoops, dang
C G
It never worked well anyway

*Chorus

There's a man in a wheelchair
On the side of the road
Oh, how I envy him
Casting his fishing line at all the tires and loads
Oh, well, whoops, dang
He never worked well anyway

*Chorus

Now I'm speeding through the Cosmos
Halfway to Taco Bell
Where I'll have my 1.3 children
And find out if dirt burns
Oh, well, whoops, dang
I never worked well anyway

*Chorus

Song interperatatatatations are most welcome. Now. Discuss, America.

Ladies and gentlemen, do not be alarmed. What you are about to see is real. The
Well, the past two days (Saturday and Sunday) have been rather successful. On Sat. Night
I slipped down to Crows house where we jammed a bit on electric guitar and drums. I
tried to sing above the noise, but, alas, my voice could not be heard above the din. We
mainly did a few songs by They Might Be Giants, Weezer, and some original stuff too.
As soon as I finished breakfast the following morning, I proceeded into the drum room
and played my acoustic guitar a bit while singing. I thought I might have an audience in
the adjacent room, but Crow was showering and his mother had temporarily disappeared
to some faraway galaxy. Then I played my guitar and sang in Crows room for a bit, while
he pretended to sleep with his eyes open. Then came the magical escapade to the place
known as East Pointe (Pointy!) Baptist (Fascist) Church. This is the place where Crow is
forced to traverse to on the first day of every week, and, sadly, I to had to make that
pilgrimmage as well. The entire time I was in the church, I kept but two things in my
head: See no, hear no, speak no. and Just try not to get lynched. So we went to the
preppy school of the Day of the Sun and sat through some people telling us to go
prostelyze and ignore the personal religious beliefs of others. Then we went to the
Sermon. The title of the sermon was Altars Aflame-Hearts Aflame. Need I say more?
The pastor begged us to turn away from our television sets and computers and internets,
and to go to the eternal almighty allholy omnipotent powerful big fat one and only true so
screw your religions GOD. It took one of the sheets from somewhere and wrote this on it:
Do yoo mind if I philosophize and blaspheme a bit?
I then handed it to Crow, who wrote:
Please do.
This is what I wrote, and Crow said he wholeheartedly agreed with me:
I do in fact believe in God/gods, but one so different so as not to be recognizable as the
typical God. My god is not in some faraway dimension, in the sky, or even in this
building. My god is outside, in the place where life is. My god is life. In my personal
religion, there is nothing to be saved from. Good and evil are controlled by the gods,
neither is better than the other, and they are in balance. If there is an afterlife, I believe
that it is not much different from life. People who want to make it Hell will make it Hell
for themselves. People who want to make it heaven will make it heaven. Doubt still exists
in the afterlife, and it has its own relevant religions too. Be not moral, be good. Live and
let live.
I also drew a picture of a platypus with a halo, a robe, and glowing eyes and wrote
underneath it Why should God look like a man?
I did all of this in a Baptist church, mind you. While the sermon was going on.
Am I Satan?
Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?
My god has not forsaken me, and neither has yours.
Then we went back to Crows house and listened to They Might Be Giants and played
some electric guitar and then went to Arbys and saw Preston and...and...
I would like to perform. Crows drum skills, piano skills, and vocal skills have gotten
much better since last I saw him. Sean has the uncanny ability to improvise a bass melody
for any tune, and Michael....Michael....well find something for him to do. He can sing
back-up. If we ever get a gig, our show will most likely consist of covers of They Might
Be Giants, Weezer, R.E.M., Radiohead, and several original songs that would be highly
offensive to anyone who is not a Satanist or an earwig. Actually, Satanists probably
wouldnt like them either. Well, chow everybody. I wanna get a t-shirt that says Kill
Rock Stars.

It's like you fed me sunshine!
Crow here! I noticed a lackluster amount of posting on this community, and since I'm the drummer of the band, I decieded to help things out a bit. Here's a song I wrote called "Those Arabian Knights".

Those Arabian Kights
By TL Crow

Chorus: Pale Moonlight
Dark Desert
All things seem right
The stage is
Now set
That treasure's in sight!
Cue the camel
Head out in the night
We'll get back
What we've lost
To those Arabian Knights!

*Well, Ali Baba, Yeah,
He rides a high horse
He's got all of our loot
Cause he's the king of thieves
Of course

*But we'll show him, yeah
We'll knock him off that horse
(Well actually he rides a camel..)
That's beside the point!
(of course!)

** Eye for an eye
Till you cannot cry

**Yeah, the desert's rough
If you can't cope, that's tough
This is the Arabian Life!

Chorus: Pale Moonlight
Dark Desert
All things seem right
The stage is
Now set
That treasure's in sight!
Cue the camel
Head out in the night
We'll get back
What we've lost
To those Arabian Knights!

Go Camel, Go!

*We surrounded Ali's troops, yeah
and demanded our loot
Threatened him with pointy swords
And lots of lawsuits

*But Ali just grinned, yeah,
and said what was true
Lawyers don't exist yet
So there's only one thing to do

**Eye for an eye
Till you cannot cry

**Yeah, the desert's rough
If you can't cope, that's tough
This is the Arabian Life!

Chorus: Pale Moonlight
Dark Desert
All things seem right
The stage is
Now set
That treasure's in sight!
Cue the camel
Head out in the night
We'll get back
What we've lost
To those Arabian Knights!

*Well your probably wondering
Who won that fight
That epic brawl for it all
On that Arabian Night

*Well, you idiot, you should know,
It was Ali
He's in the history books,
And we're here fictionally

Oh yeah!

Chorus: Pale Moonlight
Dark Desert
All things seem right
The stage is
Now set
That treasure's in sight!
Cue the camel
Head out in the night
We'll get back
What we've lost
To those Arabian Knights!

Um, Hello...
I am Jacob, singer, guitarist, and so on, for the band that this community exists for. I intend to use this site to post band news, updates, concerts, lyrics, and links concerning Salmon. As yet, we are still a fairly local band, but I am doing what I can to raise interest. But people might find it interesting to watch the evolution of a band. This is the only Salmon portal on the net thus far, but should that change, I will make it known. Now, I need to go rustle up some interest! I've already been plugging away at the TMBG community...I wonder if I should stop....?
